The Brookland Orange Hats are walking Tuesdays and Thursdays for about two hours with police officers. They meet up at 8:30 at the corner of 14th and Irving Sts. NE. One of their main goals are to increase visibility and police presence in the neighborhood, note and report any city maintenance issues (broken street lamps, dirty alleys, etc.), and stop crimes actually in progress. There are two other Orange Hat programs in the area, the NOMA Orange Hats and Woodridge.
