Remembering Black History Month: 1st Black Senator
Hiram Revels was the first African-American elected to the United States Senate. He represented the state of Mississippi and completed the term that had been abandoned by Jefferson Davis.
Washington DC is more than the nation's capital. We often focus on local Washington DC because:
1. "Regular" people also live here.
2. It's a really cool place to live.
3. Washington DC is more than monuments, Congress and the President, it's our hometown.
